A Thoughtful Question from the Community

After sharing the curriculum we're using at Blue Horizons Knowledge Academy, I received a great question from someone in the Facebook community that made me realize I should take a moment to clarify something important. They asked:"What are the fees covering when many of these curriculum selections are completely free?"

It's a fair and thoughtful question—one I imagine others may have as well—so I wanted to take a moment to respond in more detail here.

First, I want to clarify that at Blue Horizons Knowledge Academy, I do not charge any separate materials and supplies fee. Everything your child needs for their learning—books, workbooks, art supplies and other materials—is included as part of the tuition.

🎓 Where Does Tuition Go at Blue Horizons Knowledge Academy?

Some people have asked why I charge tuition when some of the curriculum materials I use—like UFLI and Core Knowledge—are available online for free. That’s a great question.

The truth is, tuition isn’t just about curriculum. It’s about the full learning experience I provide:

✅ Experienced Teaching: I bring over 30 years of classroom experience, so lessons are not just delivered—they’re thoughtfully taught and adapted for each child.

✅ Personalized Instruction: I customize and supplement every subject to meet student needs, going far beyond any one program.

✅ Small, Calm Environment: With micro-sized classes in a tech-free, peaceful setting, students can focus and thrive without distractions.

✅ Quality Materials: I purchase physical books (not just PDFs), provide hands-on activities, and ensure students are learning in a real, meaningful way. Although a free curriculum, Core Knowledge does charge for physical books.

✅ A Human-Centered Approach: I'm not relying on apps or screens—just solid instruction, strong relationships, and deep learning.
